Phenomenological Inquiry into Physical, Social, and Sensory Attributes of Spatial Experience
Main Article Content
Abstract
Due to today’s technological advancement, people are increasingly immersing themselves in the virtual representation of places without physically visiting them. This over-reliance on digital consumption creates a distorted sense of spatial experience for the current generation. In response, this research seeks to investigate the physical, social and sensory attributes of spatial experience through a phenomenological inquiry. The study employs a qualitative approach utilising a nonverbal interview method, drawing on interior architecture students’ experiences of being in a place. The research concludes that the physical, social and sensory attributes of spatial experience accentuate how embodied experience in architecture shapes well-being beyond function.
